Carol. January 09 Geelong TripHi,
just a quick blog to say we went down to Geelong over the weekend to see friends and as usual we always stop in at our beloved cats footy ground Kardinia Park, and we were fortunate to see the boys in their 1st training session for the year, so our Jak was in delight as you can imagine, his dad too (even though he is a collingwood man) much to our distaste. We had a sneak look over in the new stadium as you can see in the training picture,(in the background) we were lucky enough to gain access up on the second top floor behind the glass great view...what a great stadium we went looking for the players walk as it is being relocated (my dad played so is in the walk) but unfortunately it is in the middle of relocation so we will have to go next time to see where my dads brick is. So for anyone even remotely interested in football next time you are in Geelong pop in it and have a look is a very accessible country style club worth the look. No rain in sight still, keep up the prayers.... Talk soon Carol January 03 Coping With Drought....Hi everyone well another hot dry day here in Rushworth, hoping for a drop of rain (mm more than a drop would be exciting!) on the coming weekend heres hoping... As I watered this morning I am surprised to see how well my herbs are coping with the drought conditions, as with everything all plants only get 1 good drink a week (except for few tender things on twice a week). Now is the time to harvest your herbs and cut back to new growth to give them the autumn growth spurt, then you can reharvest before winter. Feed with an organic liquid feed like seasol or dynamic lifter to give them an extra boost not that these hardy performers need too much help.... Hope to start propagating again in the autumn depending on water supplies, otherwise will withhold until spring hope you are all getting some rain.... To view my other space and website go to mosaic-barn space and to Mosaic Barn website to update on all other happenings at our place. Catch you soon.......Carol
November 26 Friends Thoughts Hi Everyone,
just got on to check my mail and things that you do on these computers, and as I receive feeds from subscribed spaces I was delighted to read from my friend 'sheepychic' bloggings about her trip to a retirement home where her sister S is a receptionist and knowing this lovely family over the past 10 years I feel very touched as usual from these girls and their kindness to the elderly and all others around them when in need, as I am having a very emotional time with one of our dear friends whom is 90 years and has just had a stroke and has lost her short term memory which is very sad and difficult for her . But I know while there are people like R & S around B life will always have those little unexpected moments of joy and love and really who cares if we forget it the nest day it's really just a new joy again tomorrow.... So love to R & S and to all other like minded people out there remember these elderly people have lived and shown us the way for nearly a century and they deserve the love and kindness of us all xxxxxx ( I know this is a bit soppy but nice to say how I feel and hopefully someone else will gain some inspiration from our experiences)...... back soon with some updates from our last bushwalk for the year ...Anyone interested in joining us leave a comment and I will get back to you with next years program which will be after the hot weather...... A fun afternoon at Broughtonlea...
November 06 Bushwalking photos.... Hi everyone here are the promised photos from our bushwalking morning in Rushworth on Saturday, we are all still raving about how great it was. It took 5 of us to link arms around this magnificent tree with the eagles nest in it with a little bit of leeway but we couldn't do it with 4 fantastic... The grass trees were just as amazing I see quite a few of these on my walks but this strand was amazing there were literally 100's and these are all young specimens under 100 years old. Enjoy.... November 04 Open Garden DAy Success!!!! Hello everyone,
wasn't the rain great this week hope it keeps coming. Our open garden day was a great success raising over $1000. for our local primary school, everyone had a great day and the weather was perfect, lots of new ideas for everyone and an appreciation of all the gardeners efforts. Today I was lucky enough (privileged in my mind)to go on our local bush walking morning and we visited the largest ironbark tree in victoria and possibly australia which in top of tree holds the biggest nest I have ever seen an eagles nest! It was fantastic and as we left the site we were fortunate to have a wedgetailed eagle fly over top off to another known nest nearby. We then continued on to a stand of beautiful zanthorreas (grass trees) all within 20 mins drive of where I live(how lucky for me) I feel very fortunate to have this walk happening with the assistance of a very knowledgable local guide on birdlife in our beautiful ironbark forest, each month brings more delight and surprises. If I can access some pictures from some of the participants in the next few weeks will post them online for you all to enjoy....
Have been very busy of late with work commitments but hope to be back on regular basis very soon...
